Kelly G. Hamer has been a trial lawyer since 1988, focusing her practice primarily on complex litigation in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, nursing home litigation and Department of Health proceedings.  She is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator, has been approved for Federal Court mediations and is a Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediator.  In addition, she is Board Certified in Medical Malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, and recognized by the Florida Bar.  Ms. Hamer recently presented at the Florida Dispute Resolution Conference on “Women Mediators and Gender Dynamics in Mediation.”

Ms. Hamer has extensive trial experience defending medical malpractice and personal injury cases in multiple venues throughout the State of Florida.  She has lectured and authored materials in the areas of medical malpractice and trial advocacy.  Her book chapter, “Demonstrative Exhibits”, was published in 2006 by the Florida Bar and LexisNexis in the Florida Medical Malpractice Handbook.  She chaired the Advanced Trial Advocacy Seminar of the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section for several years.  Prior to obtaining her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1988, Ms. Hamer was graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Health Science Degree.

Ms. Hamer maintains an “AV” rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and is a member of the Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.  Ms. Hamer is also a past member of the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar (Chairman 2003-2004).  Her other bar service includes the Marion County Bar Association (President 1993-1994); Florida Bar Grievance Committee – Fifth Judicial Circuit (1997); the Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Commission – Fifth Circuit (2000-2003); and the Marion County Professionalism Subcommittee (2013-present).
